The Journey of a Gifted Hero: Strength in Silence
Mark’s life is a testimony of courage, faith, and unspoken love.
He was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Level 3 – requiring very substantial support, along with Severe Language Impairment, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Impulse Control Disorder, and Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD).
Each of these conditions brings unique challenges that affect how Mark experiences the world—but they also reveal a young man with deep strength, resilience, and a spirit that refuses to be defined by limitation.
Mark is non-verbal, yet his presence speaks louder than words. His laughter fills the room. His strength is unmatched. His heart radiates purity and light. But behind that smile are daily battles of confusion, sensory overwhelm, and frustration that love alone cannot fix.
His mother, MaSheeka, has cared for him full-time through hospital stays, sleepless nights, and countless prayers.
Today, Mark needs continued therapy, sensory supports, and a safe residential placement built to meet his complex needs.
The Hard Truths
Raising a child with multiple diagnoses is not easy—especially alone.
Mark’s mom, MaSheeka, has been his full-time caregiver, advocate, and protector since the day he was born. She’s walked this journey mostly alone—through hospital stays, sleepless nights, and moments when every ounce of energy was spent holding on to faith.
Mark’s autism at Level 3 means he needs full support with nearly every part of daily life—bathing, eating, dressing, communication, and safety. His severe language impairment makes it hard for him to express what he feels or needs, which can lead to heartbreaking frustration when he’s misunderstood.
His OCD brings repetitive behaviors and routines that must be carefully managed to help him feel calm and secure. His Impulse Control Disorder sometimes causes sudden actions or movements that he can’t stop once they begin—leaving his mother constantly on alert to protect and redirect him.
Combined with ADHD and IDD, these challenges make daily care physically demanding and emotionally draining. Mark’s responses aren’t intentional or behavioral—they are expressions of need, confusion, or distress when the world becomes too much.
There have been dark days—days when MaSheeka has cried quietly after holding him for hours through a meltdown. Days when she’s driven to hospitals seeking emergency help that was too far away or unavailable. Nights when fear and love mixed into one long prayer for safety.
Mark has been hospitalized multiple times during severe behavioral and medical crises—not because of neglect, but because the system has not built enough safe, compassionate spaces for children like him. His mother continues to fight daily for a long-term residential placement where he can receive 24-hour professional care, therapies, and stability in a loving environment.

The Reality of Limited Resources
Despite endless phone calls, applications, and relentless advocacy, MaSheeka has faced a system filled with closed doors and waiting lists. Resources for children with severe autism and co-occurring diagnoses remain painfully limited. Many residential programs are either unequipped to support children with complex needs like Mark’s, or they have year-long waiting lists that families can’t afford to wait on. The few that do exist often require funding far beyond what one parent can ever manage alone.
Mark deserves stability—a safe, structured residential environment where he can receive 24-hour care, behavioral therapy, and a sensory-friendly space built around his needs.
Without that support, his mother continues to shoulder an impossible weight—physically lifting, protecting, and managing behaviors while fighting to maintain her own health and strength.
Meanwhile, Mark continues to grow stronger—physically powerful, emotionally complex, and deeply loving. What he needs most is safety, stability, and a team that understands his world.
The Light That Still Shines
Even in the hardest moments, Mark’s light shines bright.
He loves music, familiar voices, and gentle movement. He finds peace in water sounds and smiles when he’s understood without needing words. He teaches patience, empathy, and faith to everyone around him.
Every small victory—calm mornings, a shared laugh, a quiet ride in the car—is celebrated like a miracle.
Through Unspoken Love and the I AM MARKED Trust, MaSheeka is determined to help not just her son but other families like hers—families raising children with complex developmental and medical needs who often fall through the cracks of our care system.

A Mother's Heart
“I’ve watched my son fight battles most adults couldn’t endure.
I’ve held him through storms that words can’t describe.
I’ve trusted God in hospital rooms, long nights, and quiet tears.
My greatest prayer is that others will see what I see—his purpose, his beauty, and the light that still shines through it all.”
— MaSheeka L. Bone, Mark’s Mom
